Trail Rides in Prospect Park
Prospect Park’s landscape has endured more than a century of change. Today, the Park contains Brooklyn’s last remaining piece of native woodlands and only freshwater lake. Around 200 species of birds can be spotted in the Park seasonally. The food and shelter provided by the Park’s woodlands have engendered a complex food chain. From yellow-bellied sapsucker and scarlet tanager to chipmunks and bats, Prospect Park is home to a huge population of creatures.
Kensington Stables leads trail rides along a 3.5-mile bridle path through scenic and varied terrain. The bridle path begins at the Park Circle entrance and continues alongside the Lake to the Nethermead Arches and the Midwood. To locate the bridle path, please refer to the yellow line on the Prospect Park Map.
Riders of all levels are welcome. Depending on the experience of the group, the ride may include walking and trotting. If desired, your guide can provide a bit of history with your ride, pointing out some of the significant features of the historic park.
